Hitler’s Forgotten Holocaust

Hitler’s Forgotten Holocaust

Dr. Patrick Jung, Professor of History, MSOE will present Hitler’s Forgotten Holocaust: The Soviet Union during World War II.

The general public is aware of the six million European Jews who perished as victims of the Nazi Holocaust during World War II. Less well known is the fact that twenty-five million citizens of the Soviet Union died due to the Nazi invasion of their country in 1941.

More than three million Soviet prisoners of war were starved to death; the Nazis used millions of others as slave laborers. Whole villages in Belorussia were destroyed and their inhabitants killed by the marauding forces of the Nazi SS (Schutzstaffel).

Dr. Jung will examine this “forgotten holocaust” and the ideological forces that caused it.

This presentation is free and open to the public. Second Saturdays is brought to you by donors like Oostburg State Bank and Sandra Mahloch.
