Using AI in Genealogy Research

Using AI in Genealogy Research

This class explores how artificial intelligence can be used to support genealogy research and enhance photographs, while also emphasizing the importance of using AI carefully and responsibly. Participants will learn about different types of AI tools, how they may help with tasks such as organizing research, reading text, and improving images, and where they can fall short.

The class will also explain when AI should be used with caution, why it is essential to fact-check everything AI produces, and how to avoid treating AI–generated information or images as historical fact. Whether you are curious about AI or already experimenting with it, this session will provide practical guidance for using these tools thoughtfully in your family history work.

Cost: $15 for members, $20 for non-members. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged.
