SUMMARY:The Art of Being a Farm Wife – Plymouth Historical Society Annual Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Plymouth Historical Society will conduct their annual meeting beginning at 10:00am.\nBeth Dippel of SCHRC will present The Art of Being a Farm Wife beginning about 10:45 to 11:00am.\nThe life of a farm wife is usually thought to be one of drudgery, but many creative ladies turned their lives into something much more, lives full of purpose and meaning.\nTypical chores included dealing with poultry, washing, milking, feeding pigs, churning butter, pasteurizing milk, making rag rugs, garden, canning, kids, cleaning, feeding the threshing crews, baking bread, writing for the newspapers, maple syrup, chopping wood, caring for the in-laws and sick children.\nBut, creative farm wives found things they loved to do that also helped support their families.\nWe’ll look back and discover some of the forgotten talents of 19th and early 20th century farm wives.\nThis event is free and open to the public.\n
