DESCRIPTION:Second Saturdays Begins A New Season\nSecond Saturdays – Journeys into Local History, sponsored by the Sheboygan County Historical Research Center, begins its 2021-2022 lecture season on Saturday, September 11, 2021. Dan Buckman, President of the Plymouth Historical Society, will speak about the History of Plymouth Hospital.\nPlymouth Hospital, the dream of Rev. Martin Schmidt of St. John Lutheran Church, opened in 1917 in a former cow pasture at the south end of Selma Street. It took three years for the Rev. Schmidt to marshal community support for the project, but it was a success. After additions in 1927 and 1956, continued growth and demand led to the construction of an all-new hospital. Built just to the south-west of the old hospital, it was connected by an underground passage, and opened in 1970.\nFor decades, Plymouth Hospital was central to life in the city. It served the residents of Plymouth, and the citizens of western Sheboygan County alike. Dan will present a morning of great memories. Don’t miss the photos, the stories and the people involved.\nThe program begins at 9:30am at the Plymouth Arts Center, 520 East Mill Street, Plymouth, WI.\nFor questions call the Research Center at 920-467-4667.
