What Do Volunteers Do?

  • Research genealogy inquiries
  • Write articles for our newsletter
  • Write articles on collections, photos or research materials‚Äč
  • Clip newspapers and donated items for general files
  • Keep library bookshelves in proper order
  • Keep general Information files in proper order
  • Keep photo files organized
  • Copy and fold brochures
  • Fold, tape and applying labels to newsletters and mailers
  • Index historical records and archival materials
  • Identify historic photographs of people, places, and events

The Research Center is staffed by a group of over one hundred volunteers supervised by Executive Director, Beth Dippel. The volunteers specialize in different areas of expertise. On staff are two librarians, an archivist, a photo curator, two genealogy experts and  two photographers. Thank you for your time.  We value it as much as you do!

When Are Volunteers Needed?

Volunteer hours normally coincide with business hours (Tuesday through Friday from 9:00- 4:00 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 8:30 - 12:00 noon. Volunteers need not set a rigid schedule for their work time. They may come in when they have the time and ambition, but we do encourage a regular schedule each week in the interest of keeping  projects moving.

Please complete the Volunteer Application and email it or you can drop it off or mail it to Sheboygan County Historical Research Center, 518 Water Street, Sheboygan Falls, WI  53085.  You will be welcomed and given a tour of the facility and then started on your volunteer journey.
